Retreat 2023
The 2023 NanoLund Student and Postdoc retreat took place in Smygehamn with almost 70 participants. They used the opportunity to dive into the topics “Work-Life-Balance” and “Communication” during the two days at the idyllic south coast of Skåne with speakers sharing their expertise, interactive workshops, and a social program.
Linda Kuhn, a psychologist at the occupational health service of Lund University provided insights and food for thought. Postdoc Stephanie Matern led an interactive work shop about life as a researcher. Under the topic of “Communication”, Marie Jönsson and Alexis Luis from Lund Stem Cell Center provided great insights into giving interesting and engaging scientific presentations and aspects of written communication in the form of grant writing.
Retreat 2022
“Industry versus Academia” was the theme for the 2022 Nano Lund student retreat. It took place in Höllviken with more than 85 participants attending the exciting program – the biggest NanoLund student retreat so far! In addition, a very apprechiated postdoc-arranged workshop gathered many of the early career researcher’s to share and discuss experiences from the usually far from straight road to travel as a junior scientist .
Introduction event
16 February 2022: Introduction to NanoLund by the directors and the NanoLund support. What is NanoLund and what does it mean to be a NanoLundian?
Retreat 2021
27-28 October: The annual NanoLund retreat for student members, postdocs and PhD students was situated at Backafallsbyn on Hven island outside Landskrona. With people being largely restricted in interacting with coworkers during the past year, the focus on the retreat was particularly on networking across disciplines and divisions within NanoLund. With roughly 80 attendants from 15 different divisions, it was probably the most attended and diverse retreat so far.
Workshop
24 February 2020: Postdoc Stephanie Matern arranged a very appreciated workshop called “Doing research- (sometimes) a bumpy road” where PhD students and postdocs got the chance to reflect, share and discuss experiences from the, usually far from straight, road as an early researcher.
Master project event
22 May 2019: Event to help students with an interest in nano find inspiration for a Master’s project and meet potential supervisors.
Alumn event
15 November 2018: Short introduction to NanoLund and research done at NanoLund, followed by two former NanoLund students talking about their career outside the University: Fangfang Yang, graduate of the Master’s Program in Nanoscience and now working at Axis, Lund, and Robert Olsson, graduate of the Engineering Nanoscience program and now working at Nevs, Trollhättan.
